There is currently an opening on the Committee for Historic Preservation and the Village Board is seeking applicants. If interested, please complete the application form which can be found on the Boards and Councils page of this website or clicking the read more line below.

The Committee for Historic Preservation, with advice from the Building Inspector reviews each application filed with the Building Department for a permit to demolish all or any substantial part of any building in the Village and decides whether the building in question appears to be one of significant historical impact. Based on their determination, they may advise the Building Inspector as to whether or not it is required that the home owner make an application to the Board of Architectural Review for a Certificate of Appropriateness to determine if a demolition permit application should be granted. If the Committee for Historic Preservation approves a demolition permit, they may impose certain conditions.  Members of the Committee for Historic Preservation are appointed to serve three-year terms. The Chair of the Committee for Historic Preservation is appointed to a one-year term.

Revised Traffic Pattern – Downtown Business District

Popham Road Bridge Stage II construction is anticipated to commence the week of April 18th.  Stage II consists of constructing the new south bridge section adjacent to the existing bridge along with the Freightway Open Lot retaining wall and the extension of the inbound platform.  The stage II work is anticipated to take 6 months to complete.  In preparation of the Phase II work the Village’s contractor will be implementing a revised Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) plan.  Due to the demolition of the existing south pedestrian sidewalk during the Stage II construction, the MPT plan calls for the sidewalk to be moved to the south side of the existing Popham Road Bridge east bound travel lane. Pedestrians will be protected from vehicular traffic by a row of concrete jersey barriers.  In order to maintain east and west travel through lanes the left hand turn lane onto East Parkway from east bound Popham Road will be eliminated and left turns onto East Parkway will be prohibited during Stage II.  Motorists travelling east bound over the bridge can turn left at the Chase Road intersection.  It is anticipated that the full MPT will be in place by Monday, April 18th.
