Board of Trustees Summer Meetings

The Board of Trustees has received a number of comments on the subject of holding meetings during July and August.  The Board already limits its regular meetings during the summer months and instead of the usual two evening Board meetings per month, there is one evening meeting with a full agenda in July and one in August. The Board also holds a morning meeting in July and another in August with agendas that are limited to necessary bill paying.  It is the view of the Board that it should maintain this summer meeting schedule, and must continue to schedule meetings of Board Committees as needed during these months because the business of government cannot be put on hold. Many issues that the Board considers have time constraints driven by the Federal, state or county schedules and these matters cannot be delayed; in addition the Village needs to move forward in a timely fashion on matters already in progress.  There are also issues that will be the subject of a number of meetings such that a meeting in July or August will not be the only opportunity for public discussion of a particular matter.  Lastly, during the summer months, the Board tries not to make final decisions on issues that we know are of great interest to residents; however, we have in the past and may in the future, make decisions where the subject matter involved has previously been subject to prior public discussion and input.

The Board will continue to schedule meetings year round, as issues and schedules dictate, and welcomes the public to any and all of them.
