Planning Board

The Planning Board consists of five volunteer members and two alternate members, appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees. Each member serves for five years, with one member’s term expiring each year. The Board’s public sessions are held at Village Hall, generally on the fourth Wednesday of each month, except that only one meeting will be held during July and August.

 

The Planning Board reviews and approves subdivisions and changes in existing lot lines, lot mergers, site plans, and nonresidential and multifamily buildings. The Board is responsible for consideration of Special Use Permit applications and for a determination of off-street parking requirements for certain nonresidential uses. It also recommends to the Village Board the amount of land, or fee in lieu of land, that is to be set aside for Village open space or recreation purposes in connection with every subdivision.

 

The Planning Board also controls construction activity on Village-designated wetlands lots through a procedure designed to protect the ecological character of the surrounding area. In addition, the Planning Board may advise the Village Board on zoning changes; new municipal facilities, such as streets, parking or recreation areas; and may review and recommend changes in the Comprehensive Plan.
