Scarsdale Police Participate in the 2008 Law Enforcement Torch Run For New York State Special Olympics
May 6, 2008 - Four members of the Scarsdale Police Department participated in the 27th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for the New York State Special Olympics. More than 85,000 Law Enforcement Officers have carried the "Flame of Hope" across 35 nations, raising awareness and funds for the Special Olympics. Scarsdale Concours Auto Show Makes Donation to The Scarsdale Police Department

Denis O'Leary III (left) and Evan Cygler (center) of the Scarsdale Concours Auto Show present Police Chief John A. Brogan with a check for one half of the proceeds from this years June 2007 Scarsdale Concours. This years auto show, which was held on Sunday, June 10th, in the Village of Scarsdale, benefited both the Scarsdale Police Department and the Scarsdale Volunteer Firefighters. Denis O'Leary III and Evan Cygler have been running the Scarsdale Concours Auto Show since 2004, and have donated over $100,000 to charities and organizations across Westchester including Habitat for Humanity, United Way and the Kellner Family Pediatric Liver Foundation. Denis and Evan are both graduates of Scarsdale High School and created the Scarsdale Concours as a way of using their passion for great cars to raise funds for area charities and organizations.
Scarsdale PBA Again Assisting Wounded Troops

May 29th, 2007 - The Scarsdale Police Benevolent Association is launching their second annual fund raising drive to purchase prepaid telephone calling cards to support those military personnel convalescing at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC. The calling cards are distributed by the Family Assistance Center located in Walter Reed Hospital and allow the recovering soldiers contact with family and friends without the incurrence of personal expense. The calling cards will be delivered to Walter Reed Medical Center by Scarsdale PBA personnel during August of 2007 along with a list of all organizations and persons that supported this worthy cause. The 2006 drive resulted in the purchase of three hundred and fifty calling cards.
Those wishing to make a donation are asked to make their check payable to the Scarsdale PBA Calling Card Drive and mail to PO BOX 5, Scarsdale, New York 10583. Questions can be directed to PBA President (Detective) Russ Morvant at 914-722-1148.

May 8, 2007 - Seven members of the Scarsdale Police Department participated in the 26th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for the New York State Special Olympics. More than 85,000 Law Enforcement Officers have carried the "Flame of Hope" across 35 nations, raising awareness and funds for the Special Olympics. Participating in the run are: (from left to right) Officer Michael Mirabella, Officer Patrick Tewey, Officer Donald Boss, Officer Terence Ellis, Bike Officer John Boggi, Officer Ronnie Arefieg (behind bike officer), Officer James Newman and Officer Robert Raysor.

The May 8th Westchester Leg of the New York State Law Enforcement Torch Run Started in Yonkers and ended in Peekskill, with Law Enforcement Officers from Departments along the way participating.
Scarsdale Police Benevolent Association Members Present Calling Cards to Walter Reed Hospital

On May 11th eight members of the Scarsdale Police Benevolent Association traveled to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC to present telephone calling cards purchased during their recent fundraiser to support military personnel convalescing from wounds sustained during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle. PBA Vice-President Michael Rossetti presented 350 AT&T International calling cards to Ms. Jeannie Jones, Administrative Specialist with the Medical Family Assistance Center of Walter Reed. Rossetti also presented a list of individuals and businesses that donated so generously to this cause. Ms. Jones stated that the calling cards would be distributed both stateside and overseas.
“The Scarsdale PBA is very grateful to those who contributed and allowed us the privilege of acting as a collection point for this wonderful cause” said Detective Russ Morvant, co-chairman.

Scarsdale Police Department Receives 5th Commission on National Accreditation Award
On March 25, 2006 the Scarsdale Police Department received it's 5th award of National Accreditation from CALEA, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. CALEA recognized the Scarsdale Police Department as a "Flagship Agency" and a model for other departments to follow. The Scarsdale Police Department was also recognized as a "Premiere Law Enforcement Agency" for maintaining National Accreditation for 15 years or longer. The Scarsdale Police Department was initially accredited in 1990. Pictured in photo are (left to right) Accreditation Manager Sgt.
