Schedule
Newspapers, other papers and boxes shall be removed every other week on Wednesday on the same day as the commingled recyclables, except holiday weeks.
Placement
Commingled recycling shall be placed at the same location as your regular garbage. Newspapers shall be placed at the curb in front of the house for collection.
Preparation
Newsprint shall be compactly and securely tied with rope or cord in bundles, or placed in paper bags or boxes. Boxes must be flattened and tied with string. Newspapers MUST not be placed for collection in plastic bags, garbage bags, or garbage cans.
All glass, plastic and cans shall be cleaned of contents with caps removed and placed in a container marked with a Commingled Recycling Sticker provided by the Village of Scarsdale. Plastic bottles
must not be placed in plastic bags for recycling pickup, but placed loosely in the container.
Paper
Paper includes:
- Brown paper bags
- Catalogs
- Corrugated cardboard boxes
- Glossy inserts
- Gray cardboard (used for cereal, pizza, paper towels and tissues)
- Magazines
- Newspapers
- Office paper
- Phone books
Commingled Glass, Bottles, Cartons & Plastics
Commingled recycling includes:
- Green, brown or clear glass bottles,
- Foil
- Food, juice, soda cans and aluminum cans
- Milk, juice, and soup cartons/boxes (liquids only)
- Waxed Cardboard
Plastics included are containers from food, drink, cleaning supplies CODED 1-7.
