In response to needs identified through the planning process, the Scarsdale Public Library Board seeks to undertake a renovation and expansion of the Scarsdale Public Library. As of October 2016, the project cost identified by the Library Board is $17.4M. In January 2017, the Village Board approved $9.9M in bonds. With thanks to Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, the Village also received a $500,000 grant in support of the project. In addition, the Library Capital Campaign Committee is undertaking a fundraising initiative for the balance of project funding. The Village debt service associated with a $9.9M bond issuance would add approximately $137 per year in taxes for a period of 15 years to a property with an assessed value of $1,508,346.
