To complement the Village's other programs and services to support resident efforts to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, a Take It or Leave It (TiLi) station is located at the Scarsdale Recycling Center at 110 Secor Road. The TiLi area allows residents to give away usable items, or to take any item that has been left by another. The TiLi area is open during the Scarsdale Recycling Center open hours which are Monday – Saturday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.
It’s simple: just drop off your unwanted items and/or take whatever you’d like! Items such as sporting goods, toys, baby and household items, tools and gardening equipment are all acceptable. Please make sure all items are in usable condition.
All furniture should be placed in the Furniture Donation Bin right next to the TiLi area. Also, textiles (clothes, shoes, belts, hats, sheets, towels etc) should all still go in the nearby Textile Recycling Bins.
The TiLi area came about rather organically. After the Furniture Donation Bin was made available, residents started leaving good quality non-furniture goods and equipment next to it. Recognizing the opportunity to make productive use of these items, the Sanitation Department re-purposed an old bus shelter, erected the Take It or Leave it Signage, and that's how the TiLi area began!
Here’s to another great step towards trash reduction and more reusing in Scarsdale!!!
